The recommendations say to apply to clean damp hair. I did that the first time and decided that was going to be way too much shampooing to do it that way. I apply it when my hair is dry to my scalp. I love these hairbrushes!! My daughter has tight curly hair and these brushes are the only brush that has truly ever worked for her hair. Brushing her hair has made it so much easier compared to other brushes I’ve tried in the past! They get all of the tangles out of curls and are bendy making it easy it use! The colors are so cute they also have them in black. I have straight hair and I also love using this brush. It’s definitely for all hair types especially curly hair.
